Meet Michael D.

Ultrasonic Technologies Manager

Image removed. How does your expertise make a difference at ENSCO?

My expertise in systems engineering has allowed me to bring the big picture to the table. I am able to help all of our specialists focus on the right problems and communicate with one another.

What project have you worked on that you’re most proud of?

Early on in my ENSCO career, I worked on a major redesign of our signal processing unit. This was a fundamental piece of our technology deliverables. I worked with our team to design the PCB, write the firmware, and package the technology. After many hours of debugging, field support, and several iterations later, we had a robust product. I am most proud of being able to hand off support and development to others within ENSCO. It is now rare that I need to be involved with any manufacturing or technical issues. This has allowed me to move on towards other exciting challenges in my time at ENSCO.

I am also quite proud of our ultrasonic rail inspection product. I joined the team the summer of 2022 and since then we have managed to gain FRA acceptance of our DOTX-305 ultrasonic car, deploy an ENSCO owned vehicle to sell as a service, and win multiple international contracts in this area. We have taken a new product line for ENSCO and matured it into a solid product for our future.

What makes ENSCO a great place to work?

ENSCO has provided great mentors and challenging project. The people here are not just colleagues, but friends.

What made you want to become an engineer?

I had a great high-school physics class where we built many projects. Everything from catapults, to bridges, to Rube-Goldberg machines, to wiring lighting in a model house. I was fascinated by solving physical problems.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my wife and baby girl. We recently bought a house and have a long list of projects to turn it into a home.
