Meet Michael E.
I work with DCO-S as a Staff Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)
How does your expertise make a difference at ENSCO?
My career leading me up to ENSCO was focused on risk. I worked all aspects of risk from countering and interdicting on violent kinetic events, to moving proactively ahead of natural disasters, to aiding in recovery of warfighter welfare after traumatic brain injuries related to explosives. All my previous opportunities presented novel new problems to solve. At ENSCO, I can exercise my experience of risk familiarity and complex problem solving across our processes here on DCO-S.
How has ENSCO supported your career growth?
Professionally and personally. I feel valued by my team working most notably alongside my tech-writing teammates, Avelicia and Joe, and my extended DCO-S Team, in addition to my on-site lead Todd, and my next-tier leadership. I feel everyone shows genuine interest by investing time and training into me so I can better tackle new challenges and grow along with ENSCO. I don’t feel like I have a job, I feel like I have a career.
What makes ENSCO a great place to work?
I feel genuinely supported and this starts at my first level-lead/supervisor. I’ve never had any company care so much about my personal development and support me strongly in becoming a stronger asset to the team. I’m extremely grateful that ENSCO commits to me by valuing personal improvement and supporting me as a person. Everything from encouraging me and helping me have a smooth transition to my annual training as a reservist, to providing me technology and resources to work on the move and in hybrid environments, to helping me access new trainings so I can be a better contributor on my day-to-day tasks – ENSCO is there giving me the tools I need to thrive.
What advice would you give someone looking to start a career in your field?
Always be curious, teachable, sociable, and humble. It is okay to not know something, it is not okay to stay ignorant once it is identified as a need. Be open about what you can do and be eager to learn when others are willing to share their knowledge.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my 10-year-old chihuahua, Pearl, exercising, and riding my motorcycle
