Dakar, Senegal, May 14, 2024
- A member of ENSCO’s MicroSearch® team will join representatives from 11 other Virginia-based companies meeting with financial and governmental leaders in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
- This is the first time Virginia Economic Development Program (VEDP) is sponsoring a trade mission to Western Africa.
- ENSCO will be educating potential partners about its globally known Human Presence Detection system, MicroSearch.
ENSCO, Inc. is one of 12 Virginia-based companies traveling to Western Africa this week as part of an Exploratory Trade Mission hosted by the Virginia Economic Development Program (VEDP), the U.S. Commercial Service, and Prosper Africa.
Willie Robinson, who serves as a Product Engineer and Production Manager for MicroSearch®, will participate in the inaugural trip, which will allow Virginia companies to explore business opportunities in the public and private sectors in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. VEDP reports that West Africa is demographically and economically one of the fastest-growing regions in the world.
Robinson will meet with potential partners and resellers who already have experience in these markets, promoting the unique capabilities of MicroSearch, ENSCO’s Human Presence Detection system. The technology identifies humans hiding in vehicles by sensing the vibrations caused by the flow of blood moving through the body. Compared to other sensor approaches, MicroSearch is more reliable and cost-effective, and safer and faster than manual searches. Since 2001, the product has been deployed worldwide in vehicles and containers at border crossings, correctional facilities, and high-value locations. Currently, MicroSearch has been sold in more than 25 countries across six continents.
The purpose of the mission is for VEDP and its federal trade assistance partners to equip participating companies with valuable insight and support in these emerging markets. VEDP’s mission is to grow the number of Virginia businesses selling their products and services overseas, expanding their volume of international sales, year after year.
